A promising new introduction with similar uses to Semiarundinaria kagamiana, but  less tall.  Height around 10ft.(3m). 

Has withstood -22C. 

Upright culms,  initially green but becoming reddish with age. Forms an expanding open grove. Sun or light shade.

Useful as a vigorous screen of medium height.
