Similar to Semiarundinaria fastuosa but thinner canes and less tall. Numerous upright green culms, sometimes becoming purple with age. 

Tough and vigorous. Has tolerated -20C.

Height around 15ft.(5m).

Usually a slowly expanding clump or small grove.

Tolerant of trimming, making it very suitable for a hedge or screen.
