Phyllostachys propinqua
Thick green canes, eventually tinted orange. Prominent white markings around the nodes. Usually forms a small clump about 15ft.(5m) high expanding only slowly.
Suitable for sun or light shade. Has tolerated -23C. Only makes a few canes each year but any surplus can be harvested as garden canes.
Its hardiness, upright habit and dense foliage make this an excellent specimen plant and also useful for screening.
