Phyllostachys iridescens
Capable of forming tall
upright culms of considerable thickness. Initially clump forming but mature
plants are likely to begin to expand,
though this is easy to control.
Emerging culms have colourful sheaths and the lower sections of older stems are likely to be randomly striped with yellow or violet. Height around 6m. Has tolerated -18C.
Highly effective as a specimen plant for sun or light shade.
Very limited availability.
