Chimonobambusa tumidissinoda 
“Walking Stick Bamboo”  

A Chinese bamboo introduced in 1987. The leaves are up to10cm long and the culms are initially dark green. It is immediately recognisable by its swollen nodes. It has attractive arching foliage and has tolerated -13C. Can reach a height of around 10ft. (3m).

This is an interesting collectors’ plant suitable for milder areas. On favourable sites is one of  the most vigorously spreading bamboos in cultivation. Best in light shade.
