Phyllostachys aureosulcata

An exceptionally decorative and versatile bamboo, very suitable for northern gardens. Plentiful closely spaced, upright, golden yellow canes around 12 to 14ft. high (4.5m). Stems may zig-zag at base and are often tinted red on the sunny side. Attractive foliage which normally remains a fresh green throughout winter. Easily grown in sun or light shade. Very hardy and has tolerated -26C. Slowly spreading but readily controlled. One of the most effective bamboos for screening . Introduced from China in 1907. RHS. Award. Suitable as a specimen plant, hedge, grove, or in a large container.
